I talk to plants now
They whisper back.
I know the sanctity of life
when I solemnly pluck fruit
saying thank you for the gifts
from these plants whom I have coaxed
from seed to climbing glorious greenery.
I feel the weariness of leaves and flowers
as Autumn approaches,
they who stayed poised and strong
through scorching summer sun
in order to grow glorious babies,
their only goal: procreation
“BEHOLD: my magnum opus
before I go to sleep in the soil of my birth.”
I talk to plants now.
They whisper back.

Me too, Heather, me too. You put it beautifully! Kristin
